SEMINAR AGENDA

NOTE:  1 hour => 50 mins of instruction with 10 minute discussion break

Part 1:  The Number System , Ratios and Expressions (1 hour)

Description:  During this session, you will learn how to understand the fundamentals of all numbers and how they are used in expressions and equations.  The key to mastering math begins with the number line.  This session will break down how expressions are understood to solve any problem.

Part 2:  Geometry and Graphs (1 hour)

Description: During this session, you will learn how to understand graphs and various concepts of geometry.  Since geometry is a descriptive form of how to understand numbers, we will break down the easiest ways to figure out any problem in geometry and use equations to their fullest!

Part 3:  Polynomials and Quadratic Equations (1 hour)

Description: This session will teach you how to easily understand various types of equations from monomials and polynomials all of the way to the quadratic equation.  This session will build on Part 1 and take understanding math to a whole other level for an easy experience with math.

Part 4:  Solving Equations and Word Problems (1 hour)

Description: This final session will take all of the topics and teach you how to solve any Algebra equation or word problem that you may be given.  The tactics learned in this session will serve as a base for any other type of math course, but will help you to build your confidence with test taking strategies as well!

About the Presenter:  Brian Smith is the Founder and Executive Director of EduSerc, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the career and professional development of youth and adults in the community.  Brian has been serving as an engineer, community leader, mentor, tutor and scholar for over 30 years.  He is an award winning technology subject matter expert and innovation  consultant with a broad span of technical work and corporate experience  as an electrical engineer, software developer, database administrator,  IT consultant, and program manager.  Brian is also the current owner of a successful information and technology solutions firm and serves as the chief architect of all industry-based curriculums with EduSerc.  Brian trains corporate professionals on youth-related initiatives and creates several after-school, summer and STEM-based initiatives across the country.
