IPLD Prince George's Trip - DC Metropolitan Police Department Headquarters | Academic Leadership Development

This is our next IPLD experience of the program year, where students will receive an awesome day of career and hands-on learning with the Metropolitan Police Department of our Nation's capitol.  In the afternoon at PGCC, we will master academic leadership strategies!  

DC Metropolitan Police Department

Students will receive a full tour and great experience at DC's headquarters learning how their career interest are applied into positions in the DC Police Department.  

Students will learn experience the following:

• MPD Academy Tour
• Cadet Program & Officer Recruitment Information Session
• Internship Program Review
• Canine Unit Meet & Demonstration
• Virtual Shooting Range
• MPT Headquarters Tour
• Joint Operations Command Center Experience
• Joint Strategic and Tactical Analysis Command Center Experience

Academic Leadership Strategies at PGCC

In the afternoon, Brian Smith with EduSerc will help each student identify their "blindspot" in academics and will train them to become a better student mastering the ability for them to raise their grades.  This will be a more in depth session, so we ask students to bring the one subject they are having the hardest time with mastering in school!!  Please bring your homework or past test or anything you are struggling with to this session.

We want to help each student as much as we can to help themselves during this session.

ITINERARY - Wednesday, November 27, 2019

8:00am                     PGCC (Back Parking Lot F) 

8:00am - 9:00am      Travel to DC Metropolitan Police Department Academy and Headquarters

9:00am - 12:30pm    WMATA Tour and industry learning experience 

12:30pm - 1:30pm    Travel to PGCC 

1:30pm - 2:00pm      Lunch at PGCC Center for Performing Arts (CPA) Room 118

2:00pm - 5:00pm      Academic Leadership Stragegies (EduSerc) 

5:00pm                      Pickup Students:  PGCC  Center for Performing Arts (CPA) (ROOM  118)

NOTE:  Please come inside...we know it will be potentially rainy a little bit on this day and cold, so we will keep the students inside until you arrive to pick them up.  We will not stand out in the parking lot in the cold on this day.

IMPORTANT:  

• Materials:  Please bring your EduSerc notebooks (or general notebook for notes) and a pen/pencil
• Dress Code:  EduSerc IPLD Shirts or Business Casual Dress (wear comfortable shoes).
